Manuka South didn't begin as a honey brand. It began as a family's commitment to natural health.

When Rob and Lynda Haines founded the New Zealand Health Company in 1988, the focus was simple: hand-pick products that genuinely enrich people's lives. Then in 2013, their son Sam returned from overseas with a conviction that exceptional honey deserved to be treated as the rare, refined product it is, inspiring the establishment of Manuka South. Four generations of the family have worked in the company since it was formed. The founding values haven't shifted once.

What truly sets us apart is what happens after harvest. Most producers bottle immediately. We cellar. Every batch in our premium range is matured at consistently low temperatures, allowing the UMF properties to fully develop and MGO levels in our Mānuka honey to reach their peak. 

It's a process that takes patience, which is why our honey consistently achieves some of the highest UMF results available, up to our Limited Reserve UMF 35+ (MGO 2190), currently the highest certified grade in the world.

What is UMF and why does it matter?

Unique Mānuka Factor (UMF) is the independent grading system that certifies the potency, purity, and authenticity of New Zealand Mānuka honey. 

Only monofloral honey that meets strict testing standards qualifies, and the higher the number, the more concentrated the active compounds. 

Where is Manuka South honey made?

We are 100% New Zealand-owned and operated. Our honey is sourced from clean, mānuka-rich locations across New Zealand, packed locally and shipped worldwide.

How do I know my Manuka South honey is authentic?

Look for our UMF license number #1053 on the product, which can be verified directly at umf.org.nz. If you’re ever unsure, email us with a photo or batch number and our team will look into it for you.

Which grade should I choose?

UMF 5-10+ is suitable for daily wellness and general use. UMF 10-15+ supports immunity and digestive health. UMF 15+ and above is where potency becomes most concentrated and provides targeted health support.
